Happy Birthday Eliza Doolittle (the singing one anyway)

A day late and a dollar short but anyway...
Yesterday, on March 15, My Fair Lady turned 50 years old. Based on George Bernard Shaw's Pygmalion, the musical opened on March 15 1956 at the late Mark Hellinger Theatre in Times Square and starred Rex Harrison as Professor Henry Higgins and Julie Andrews as his protege, Eliza Doolittle. The show was scored by the fabulous team of Alan Jay Lerner and Frederick Lowe and has become one of the greatest and most beloved musicals of all time.

Happy Birthday My Fair Lady. "Tonight ol' man, you did it!"
