Shall We Dance?

On this date in 1950, Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein's new musical, The King and I, opened at the St. James Theatre on Broadway. Starring Gertrude Lawrence and Yul Brynner, it was the story of an English Schoolteacher moving to Siam to teach the children of the King. Being one of my favorite musicals, I would just like to say, Happy 56th Birthday!
