Sutton Foster

I would like to dedicate my first post to Sutton Foster, the star of Broadway's Thoroughly Modern Millie, Little Women, and the up-coming Drowsy Chaperone. Having seen her in both Little Women and Millie I can honestly say that I believe the future of Broadway Musical Performance to be in her hands.
She is at once dynamic and engaging and is reminiscent of such musical comedy greats as: Carol Channing, Judy Holliday and Carol Burnett. She was the personality that kept Millie running for as long as it did; and anyone who has ever read the novel of Little Women would say that she embodied the role of Jo March like no actress has on screen.
Another thing that fastens Sutton to my heart is that after winning a Tony Award for her role in Thoroughly Modern Millie, she turned down various Hollywood deals (even an offer for her own sitcom) to remain on Broadway with the show that brought her to the public's notice.
She is a class act, and I wouldn't be surprised if in forty years she's wowing the audience in a one woman show in the flavour of Bea Arthur, Elaine Stritch and Chita Rivera. Simply put, she's "Astonishing".
