Hello Gorgeous!

Little tidbit: on this day in 1968 Barbra Streisand won an Academy Award as "Best Actress" for playing Fanny Brice in the film version of Funny Girl.

Interestingly, this was the first time in history that there was a tie in the "Best Actress" category. Barb tied with Katharine Hepburn for her performance in The Lion In Winter (another amazing film).

Since Hepburn was in New York doing a film at the time, Babs got to go up on stage all by her lonesome. Her first remark as she sized up her trophy- "Hello gorgeous!"
