Animal Dances

I was just asked to take part in a demonstration of turn of the century "animal dances". No... it's nothing kinky. "Animal Dances" were dance steps that young people did during the era of Ragtime music. Things like; The Foxtrot, Bunny Hug, Chicken Scratch, and the Snake Dip all fall under the heading.
I'll be learning the steps tomorrow and then performing them on Saturday in Catskill, NY.
As I have always loved this era of history, music, and dance... I'm quite excited.
"And everything was RAGTIME!"

wow i had no idea that it was actually the name of a dance. when Velma mentions it in "All that Jazz", i thought it was a euphimism for screwing.

who knew!
